BookDrop

Our Process

From your shelf to a new reader — here's how BookDrop gives every book the best chance at a second life.

1

Collect

Pallets of collected books arriving at the BookDrop warehouse

Books come to us from many sources: home pickups, donation bins at partner locations, library deaccessions, thrift store surplus, and Friends of the Library book sale leftovers. We make it easy for anyone to get books to us.

  • Free home pickups across NJ, PA, and surrounding states
  • 500+ donation bins at partner locations
  • Scheduled pickups from libraries and thrift stores
  • End-of-sale collection for Friends groups
2

Sort & Evaluate

Every book that comes through our facility is evaluated. We use technology and expertise to determine the best destination for each title.

  • Books are scanned and priced using real-time market data
  • High-value books are listed on online marketplaces
  • Bulk-quality books go to wholesale channels
  • Damaged or unsalable books are recycled responsibly
3

Redistribute

Sorted books on shelves ready for sale and redistribution

Sorted books find new homes through multiple channels, ensuring the maximum number of books reach readers.

  • Online sales through major book marketplaces
  • Wholesale distribution to bookstores and retailers
  • Community programs and donations
  • Responsible recycling for books that can't be reused
